The City of Cedar Rapids, IA is currently recruiting for a Storm Water Management Project Engineer. This position manages the City’s Storm Water Utility and monitors compliance of City storm water runoff with Federal, State and local regulations; develops and directs the development of engineering plans, reports and studies pertaining to storm water management. Examples of Essential Job Functions:
Reviews private development of engineering designs of public works construction in accordance with City and industry standards;
Establishes, implements, manages and monitors City’s Storm Water Utility;
Establishes and manages storm water monitoring program to substantially comply with the City’s NPDES Storm Water Permit;
Reviews and analyzes data pertaining to storm water quality for the purpose of evaluating compliance with Federal, State and local regulations;
Recommends projects and programs related to storm water management;
Develops engineering designs, plans specifications and contracts for the construction of storm water management projects;
Prepares feasibility studies related to various storm water management issues;
Prepares and monitors Storm Water Utility’s operating and CIP budget;

Job Requirements


Education, training, experience:
Spacer Image
Specific qualifications include:
• Licensure as a Professional Engineer issued by the State of Iowa, or if issued by another state, the ability to obtain within six months
• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, Construction Engineering or related field
• 7 or more years in public works project enigneering, design, construction and implanting and managing a storm water utility.
