SGH performs a broad range of services for the nuclear power industry including seismic design and evaluation, probabilistic risk assessments of structures, systems, and components (SSCs), accident analyses, drop load impact analysis, and safety evaluations. SGH has also successfully defended licensing applications to regulators and reviewers for high hazard facilities. Our engineers are recognized as leading seismic and structural engineering consultants to the nuclear industry worldwide and have developed state-of-the-art methodologies in a variety of areas.
FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Principal, s/he performs engineering analyses of nuclear facility structures, systems, and components for extreme events, including earthquakes, wind, explosions, and impact loads.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform seismic evaluations of nuclear facility structures, systems, and components using deterministic and probabilistic methods.
• Develop finite element models of structures using commercially available software, and perform dynamic seismic analyses using these models.
• Perform seismic soil-structure interaction analyses of nuclear facility structures.
• Perform seismic evaluations of equipment using experience-based methods.
• Perform field walkdown assessments of nuclear facility structures, systems, and components.
• Implement the SGH Quality Assurance Program for Nuclear Facility Work.
• Prepare calculations and reports documenting engineering analyses.

Job Requirements

Education, training, experience:
|
|
REQUIREMENTS:
• M.S. or PhD in Structural Engineering
• Must have 1 - 5 years of experience.
• A strong background in finite element analysis, structural dynamics, reinforced concrete,
structural steel, and probability theory is required.
• Strong oral and written communication skills are also required.
• Professional registration in civil engineering is preferred.
• Experience in soil-structure interaction analysis is desirable.
• Familiarity with programs SAP2000, SASSI, and ANSYS is desirable.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and in large multi-disciplinary teams.
• May be required to work on projects that are subject to passing a security clearance check.
