Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Geotechnical Engineering, the civil engineer is responsible for the analysis of civil infrastructure, completion of hydraulic drainage calculations, and project management of forensic insurance investigations. Excellent English skills are essential for report generation and communication with our clients. Expert level writing in English is required.


Essential Function/Duties

1. Analyze photographs, drawings and maps to inform the direction of projects as well as the overall budget constraints.
2. Visit sites to draw floor plan, detail environmental and site characteristics, take relative elevation measurements of the foundation system, obtain photographic support with voice notes and document any other relevant information needed from site.
3. Communicate with insurance adjusters, plumbers and homeowners about project details during the project life cycle and document all correspondence.
4. Coordinate with CAD personnel and administrative staff to ensure timeliness of drawings and photographs.
5. Draft soil-structure interaction reports for review and conclusion by project engineer of record.
6. Invoice project and supply change orders when applicable.
7. Proactively identify opportunities to aid other project engineers/project managers with their assigned work.
8. Execute geotechnical project assignments including engineering analysis, field exploration and laboratory services to ensure that commitments to clients are met.
9. Perform geotechnical engineering analyses and design related to a variety of projects including bridges, buildings, retaining walls, towers, pavements, reinforced slopes, and embankments.
10. Make observations of subsurface exploration, development of scope of subsurface exploration and laboratory testing.
11. Prepare geotechnical engineering reports, proposals, design details and specifications.
12. Offer support during the construction phase of projects.
13. Investigate ground conditions and analyze results of site tests, such as soil samples.
14. Use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering design documents.
15. Identify and lead new business opportunities.
16. Ensure highly productive relationships and partnerships for the benefit of the organization.
17. Participate in and nurture broad networks of alliances with others to exchange knowledge and information about learning and change in support of change initiatives.
18. Actively network as the company representative in trade groups and shows as well as technical seminars and committees.
19. Attend regular staff and review meetings and provide vision, foster a friendly and fast-paced working environment, facilitate teamwork and success through continuing education and the implementation of new technology
20. Operate computers with Microsoft Office, Windows, Internet and specialty engineering software.
21. Use Outlook to schedule and track jobs and appointments.

Job Requirements

1. Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering, and over six years of experience with advanced technical knowledge in civil and/or structural engineering, obtainable usually through a combination of experience and continuing education.
2. Professional Engineering certification in the State of Texas or ability to obtain certification within three months.
