EVWD is a performance based organization that delivers results. The Director of Engineering & Operations is a key member of the District's executive management team. The Director of Engineering & Operations will support the General Manager/CEO in a variety of administrative, coordinative, analytical, technical, and liaison capacities. Successful performance of the work requires engineering expertise, knowledge of public policy, special district functions including the role of an elected Board of Directors, and the ability to develop, oversee and implement projects and programs in a variety of areas. The Director of Engineering & Operations will be accountable for conducting departmental planning and accomplishing goals and objectives in an effort to further the District's vision. The Director of Engineering & Operations is an exempt,at-will position.

The District is seeking a highly motivated leader with a broad range of engineering experience who will represent the District's viewpoint with local and regional partners, state and federal regulatory agencies, as well as support the future growth and development within EVWD's service area. The candidate will offer a collaborative style that empowers and motivates staff to effectively address and accomplish the goals of the District. A candidate who can provide clear direction and strategic planning for an organization that encourages innovation and ongoing business process improvements will be valued. A candidate known for effective communication across a wide range of audiences will perform well in this position. It is expected that candidates for this position will be comfortable with public speaking and in making presentations to elected bodies and the community at large.

Job Requirements

Candidates must possess education equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited
four-year college or university with major coursework in civil engineering, or a related field, and at least ten (10) years of progressively responsible Engineering experience , including at least three (3) years of supervisory experience. Candidates must possess and maintain registration as a Professional Engineer as well as a valid California driver's license and satisfactory driving record. A Master's Degree in a related field is desired.
