Primary job duties include:
Provides professional knowledge and expertise in the development, implementation, administration and support of company-wide environmental health and safety programs.
Responsible for managing/directing the overall coordination and enforcement of environmental health and safety programs at all job sites to assure compliance with regulatory agency guidelines and institutional policies, including all applicable federal, state and local legislation and codes governing environmental health and safety.
Interfaces with regulatory agencies to formulate corrective actions.
Designs, coordinates, and conducts safety orientations and training for field employees and for office personnel that visit job sites.
Recommends safety courses and develops curricula for field personnel in each division.
Researches and recommends safety equipment for use by field personnel; coordinates ordering and purchasing of safety related equipment as necessary.
Travels to job sites and conducts on-site reviews and audits of job site safety for existing or potential accident or health hazards, assesses risk potential of hazards, and recommends corrective or preventive mitigation measures (requires approximately 30% travel)
Coordinates and oversees the investigation and analysis of accident/incident and injuries, and development of recurrence prevention programs and procedures.
Monitors all current information on federal and state safety regulations and requirements related to all areas of construction safety, PSM, and plant/facility maintenance involving refrigeration system work.
Responds and provides assistance to all emergency situations.
Assists in coordinating the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in insurance and legal investigations.
Compiles, maintains, and submits accident reports required by regulatory agencies.
Oversees compilation of all safety related reports/paperwork from job sites and maintains safety files/records.
Develops and monitors emergency action plans.
Recommends changes in policies and procedures to prevent accidents and illness.
Prepares safety related newsletters, publications, communications, etc. for promulgation to field personnel.
Interacts with all division general superintendents and managers of field services regarding safety issues with field personnel.
Attends/participates in various meetings, both in the office and in the field at job sites.
Provides liaison between workers comp insurance carrier and injured employees to help manage claims and reduce costs.
10 years combined construction safety experience (field and office)
OSHA construction 30-hr.
Current 1st aid/CPR/AED training
Computer proficiency in standard software and devices
30% Travel Required
Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in occupational health and safety related program)
Certifications (e.g., CHST, ASP, CSP)
Familiar with Procore, Bluebeam, TradeTapp (prequalification software)
Excellent training capabilities
Ability to read/understand construction blueprints/drawings
Experience in managing Worker’s Compensation claims
