Job Description

Kane County Illinois, with over 531,000 residents across 30 municipalities, is seeking to fill two critical positions in the Division of Transportation “KDOT”. Kane County is a diverse and thriving region; home to large established cities like Aurora and Elgin, trendy suburbs along the Fox River Valley, and maintains its’ sprawling agricultural character including many tiny and charming hamlets. At the same time, Kane County benefits from excellent schools and world-class community colleges and private universities.

Several large international corporations have chosen Kane County as their home for US headquarters; in part because the region is the heartland’s hotspot for technology and innovation. This technology focus is benefitted by a highly educated and sought-after skilled labor force. Access to metro Chicago is direct and efficient whether by commuter rail lines or US highway. These access venues also lead to a multitude of recreational opportunities including over 300 miles of bike trails and 76 forest preserves.

KDOT, the award-winning county division of transportation, is a critical player in the Chicago Metro region for planning and implementation of major road, bridge and other transportation projects. KDOT offers the opportunity to work on a variety of complex and challenging projects; ranging from river crossings to roundabouts and coordination of traffic management via the department’s Arterial Operations Center. Our team-oriented working environment fosters attainment of broad-based and invaluable experience in planning, construction and design activities. Success has been built in part on a strong history of acquiring state and federal grant funds to leverage substantial investment in the region. KDOT works with its’ many partners in delivering highly beneficial services and exceptional results to stakeholders.
