Primary Responsibilities

Firm is currently in need of a Mid-Atlantic Director-Bridge Engineering to lead their Bridge Division which encompasses offices and staff in VA, MD, PA, and NC. This position can be based out of any of our client's offices in VA or DC

Primary duties will include:

*Serve as a senior technical specialist, problem solving role on any complex bridge design project or task. *May be a critical task on a small project.
*Serve as a structures task manager on large to mid-size complex projects and supervise mid-level engineers in the performance of engineering tasks.
*Perform and oversee complex structural planning, analysis, design and development of deliverables for all structural aspects of bridge projects. Typical tasks could include any structural aspect (superstructure, foundation and/or tunnel) of any mode of transportation (rail, transit, highway, aviation, etc.).
*The candidate will be involved with the technical oversight and coordination of several projects concurrently.
*Lead and participate in major pursuits and Program development by leveraging client relationships, projects technical requirements, schedule and staffing.
*Shall be well versed in both local and national bridge codes, standards, and specifications as well as involved in industry organizations in order to build the technical knowledge base of the group.
*It will be expected that the candidate be a team player ready to mentor bridge staff and to help grow the technical performance of the group.

Job Requirements


PE required. 15+ years bridge/structural design experience required. Must have proven hands on experience in all aspects of bridge design projects (project development and policy, analysis, detail development, specifications, plans presentation, etc.).

*Proficiency with bridge analysis & design software programs required.
*Experience using complex structural analysis programs for bridge design, load rating and bridge rehabilitation is a must.
*Established track record of pursuit and capture of bridge engineering projects.
*Understanding of FHWA policies and procedures.
*Understanding the operations of and experience with the regional State DOT’s, via AASHTO COBS, NSBA, ASBI, TRB, business / project experience, or other Professional Societies or Committees.
*Experience with local owners like VDOT, NCDOT, MDSHA, MDTA, PennDOT or local municipalities is strongly preferred.
*Demonstrated leadership and communication skills, and ability to work with various team members and clients required.
*Project management skills desirable.
*Strong communication skills and willing to work in a team environment both in person and virtual.
