Donan is looking to hire new talent for areas where we are once again growing and currently has a need for a full-time Associate Engineer to cover Albuquerque or Santa Fe, NM and surrounding areas.

The Associate Engineer is responsible for assisting a Professional Engineer in the completion of forensic projects which are assigned to them, to assure that the forensic projects conform to the standards of the firm, the commitment the firm has made to our clients, and the monetary budget that has been assigned. This person will be responsible for several concurrent projects and will be working under the guidance of multiple licensed Professional Engineers.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Communicate effectively and assist the engineer-of-record [Professional Engineer] in conducting site investigations and drafting detailed forensic reports based on observations and findings from the field inspection.
• Organize, edit and present, at the direction of the forensic engineer, photographic data, key concepts, weather data research, code references, diagrams, etc. in the written engineering report.
• Frequent travel to both assist and independently conduct field site inspections. Must be able to perform physical tasks required for forensic investigations, including but not limited to lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders, maneuvering in crawl spaces, climbing on residential and commercial roof surfaces, and driving long distances.
• Communicate, and document communication, with customers to provide timelines and project updates on a consistent basis.
• Willing to work a flexible schedule and additional hours during periods of peak business demand and backlog as deemed necessary by management.
• Provides excellent customer service to the company's internal and external customers.
• For advancement, must be willing to pro-actively pursue additional training and education and/or certifications.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements


Position Requirements:
• Applicant must have taken and passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) / Engineer-In-Training (EIT) exam and received their state engineering board EIT certification.
• Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, other engineering disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, etc.) will also be considered with relevant experience and skillset.
• Previous experience in failure analysis, knowledge of residential and/or commercial construction, building codes, design services or technical writing is highly preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must have superior customer service skills, be team oriented and enjoy service-oriented work.
• Required to have strong technical writing abilities with experience using Microsoft Word and proficient with general computer skills.
• A valid drivers license, with an acceptable driving record, is required in accordance with the company guidelines.
• Must have the ability to work efficiently with periods of minimal supervision.
• Must be comfortable working from a remote (home) office setting and with the ability to travel from project site to project site to perform inspections.
• Must have access to home high-speed internet service and reliable cellular reception.
• Must be able to meet all standards for pre-employment physical examination.


Physical Requirements:
• Frequently required to stand on one's feet for prolonged periods of time.
• Frequently required to lift and/or move objects weighing 50-100 lbs.
• Frequently required to climb onto first and second story roofs, ascend/descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, etc.
• Frequently required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
• Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
• Frequently required to drive a vehicle for extended periods of time.
